National Tea Day is celebrated in the UK every year on April 21st due to it being the nation’s favourite beverage. It is estimated that 165 million cups are consumed by Brits each day- so it is no wonder that we have an actual holiday to celebrate it!
Afternoon Tea has been a staple of British culture for two centuries, but the concept of National Tea Day is still relatively new. This year, we will have to celebrate the day in a different way, as we cannot book an afternoon tea day out, or go to any “fes-tea-vals” that have become popular over the past few years.
There is such a wide range of teas out there- you have your traditional black teas such as Earl Grey and English Breakfast, herbal teas such as Camomile and Peppermint, and you have your iced teas which are perfect to drink in the spring sunshine.
But what about a chilled vegan tea latte that you can enjoy at home and on the go? Well there is only one brand that makes such a refreshing, tasty drink that is suitable for vegans.
HumaniTea
HumaniTea has created the UK’s first chilled vegan tea lattes which are packaged into recyclable cans. They are available in two flavours- Earl Grey Oat Milk Classic Tea Latte and Matcha Oat Milk Green Tea Latte.
Both flavours are brewed with real tea leaves and oat milk, which offers you natural energy that is low in sugar, and the perfect replacement for your everyday cup of tea!
Our Earl Grey flavour is made up of Earl Grey Tea, Water, Oats, Organic Agave Nectar, Sea Salt, Acidity Regulator (Potassium Carbonate).
Our Matcha flavour is made up of Matcha Green Tea, Oats, Organic Agave Nectar, Sea Salt, Acidity Regulator (Potassium Carbonate).
This means our beverages are 100% sustainable and all ingredients are ethically sourced and good for you, and humanity!
To accompany our tea lattes on National Tea Day, we recommend some scones- either plain, fruity, vegan, or with cream and jam! Even biscuits go well with our chilled tea, although we don’t recommend dunking…
How to celebrate at home
As so many of us are still staying at home, enjoying this holiday could not be easier. Tuck into your favourite traditional British teas from the comfort of your sofa, but this year we think you should try something different and enjoy a creamy, delicious, dairy free tea latte.
To make National Tea Day more interesting, you can turn our beverages into iced tea by adding cubes of ice and a bit of syrup to sweeten the drink. You can also have a go at brewing your own tea and add some vegan milk such as almond, soya, or coconut milk (we recommend oat milk for optimum taste and a creamy texture).
Whatever tea you decide to drink, make sure you take a picture of you or your loved ones enjoying a cuppa on April 21st, and post on social media with the caption #NationalTeaDay.
