Get to know HumaniTea’s newest team members
The last two months have been very exciting for us at HumaniTea as our Founder and Chief Tea Officer Tina Chen took on not one, not two, but three new team members to join her as Marketing and Sales Managers! In this blog post we’ll be introducing you to the new team so you can get to know a bit more about who is behind your favourite tea lattes! You can also find out more about Tina here.
Choon Young Tan
Tell us a bit about yourself, your previous experience and what you’ll be doing at HumaniTea.
I’m based in Manchester and have about 15 years experience working in marketing and social media roles and 5 years working in the diversity and inclusion space as well. I will be helping Tina and other team members with branding and marketing strategies, PR, events, sales outreach and working closely with the ESEA (East and Southeast Asian) community to improve visibility among them.
Why did you want to work for HumaniTea?
I was drawn to the fact it’s an ESEA-owned social enterprise company and its mission to provide something new to the market and do something good in the world.
What hobbies do you have, other work do you do or other causes do you care about?
I like to read, write, and try to keep fit. Alongside my work with HumaniTea I am Communications Lead at Together Active, am a freelance DEI Consultant at werk. gym, I volunteer as Chief Operating Officer for Voice ESEA, and run my own blog and freelance consultancy Tan’s Topics. I am also passionate about building positive workplace cultures, LGBTQ rights, animal welfare, race equity and raising awareness of glaucoma.
How do you look after your wellbeing?
By taking regular breaks and walks and generally trying to keep active.
Do you prefer HumaniTea’s Matcha Green Tea or Earl Grey Tea flavour?
It’s a tough one as I like both. I would normally drink the Matcha Green Tea being Asian but the Earl Grey is surprisingly nice, especially when it’s not just straight out of the fridge.
Ashlyn Davis
Tell us a bit about yourself, your previous experience and what you’ll be doing at HumaniTea.
I recently finished my Nutrition Marketing placement at Nestlé and am now going onto my final year at the University of Leeds to complete my degree in Nutrition. I will be doing social media, including video and content production, and sales outreach.
Why did you want to work for HumaniTea?
I found the values HumaniTea is built on really resonated with my own. I really enjoyed my placement, so want to take what I learned to the next level and help the business grow.
What are your hobbies?
Hockey, netball, gym, arts and crafts, and travelling.
How do you look after your wellbeing?
I try to keep active as much as possible. I work well knowing I have plans later with friends doing an activity, whether it’s the gym or going to hockey practice.
Do you prefer HumaniTea’s Matcha Green Tea or Earl Grey Tea flavour?
I have always usually preferred Matcha over Earl Grey, but in this case I really enjoyed the Earl Grey, perhaps because I’ve never had anything quite like it and was pleasantly shocked!
Ross Kennedy
Tell us a bit about yourself, your previous experience and what you’ll be doing at HumaniTea.
I live in Bristol and I recently finished a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship. I have also been working on my own artwork and selling at conventions. I will be doing social media, including video and content production, and sales outreach.
Why did you want to work for HumaniTeam?
Humanitea’s brand and goals really drew me to them. I am eager to grow with the business and I’m certain we can reach great heights together.
What are your hobbies?
Drawing, art and animation, anime, gym and playing video games. I am also interested in overall media production practices and learning about new technologies.
How do you look after your wellbeing?
I like to spend my free time drawing as well as going to the gym.
Do you prefer HumaniTea’s Matcha Green Tea or Earl Grey Tea flavour?
Earl Grey was my go-to favourite flavour as it’s a very familiar flavour to me. However, the Matcha Green Tea definietly grows on you.
