5 reasons why our delicious matcha lattes stand out

The popularity of matcha lattes

HumaniTea Matcha Oat Milk Green Tea Latte

Matcha and matcha lattes are extremely and increasingly popular these days and the boom comes amid a general rise in the popularity of Asian culture and cuisine. The market has a global value of $2.3bn (£1.8bn), which is predicted to rise to $2.9bn in 2028. In the UK, matcha drinks saw a 202% increase in sales in 2023 and there are more than 1 million videos under the #matcha hashtag on TikTok.

What is matcha?

The history of tea – specifically matcha – is intricately linked to tea drinking ceremonies and tea culture in East Asia. Matcha is a finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves originating from China, but is today most commonly known for being produced and popular in Japan (read more about the history and differences in the links). One of the main differences between matcha and normal green tea is that the plant is grown in the shade, hence a difference in colour and shade. Today, Matcha is widely loved and used to flavour almost anything, from pancakes and chocolate to even overnight oats and noodles.

Also, did you know that matcha was discovered in China by Buddhist monk Myoan Eisai who brought it to Japan? Esai found that drinking it improved his Zen meditation sessions by producing a state of calm alertness, and it is this reason why matcha is so well known for its calm energy, perfect for those who need to chill and focus.

When mixed with tea and sometimes sweetener for a sweet, creamy texture, a matcha latte is born. And here are 5 reasons, why HumaniTea’s – the UK’s first chilled ready-to-drink plant-based tea lattes – stand out:

1. We use organic matcha and other ethically sourced ingredients

Our organic matcha is ethically sourced from Shizuoka in Japan, where green tea is their most famous local product. It has been widely praised for being authentic and of high quality. We pair our matcha with organic agave nectar from Mexico and oat milk for that sweet, creamy taste without the added sugar and low caffeine content (other than natural sugar and caffeine) that is perfect for vegans and lactose intolerant consumers.

2. Our matcha lattes are packed full of health benefits

With less than 70 calories per can, just 11.75g of carbs which sugar and 0.25g of fat of which sugars, our matcha lattes are super healthy in addition to the many nutrients, minerals and antioxidants found in teas. This is again boosted by her use of organic, high quality matcha and healthy, sustainable oat milk.

3. We were listed as one of “the best matcha brands to buy in 2025”

Don’t just take our word for it! We were recently featured in The Independent as one of the best matcha brands to buy in 2025, which is very exciTEAng! Fitness and wellbeing editor Emilie Lavinia says “if matcha on the go sounds more your cup of tea, HumaniTea has blended ethically sourced matcha powder with chilled oat milk to create ready-to-drink lattes in cans. Each can is only 68 calories and has a delicious milky flavour that’s suitable for vegans.”

4. Our matcha lattes are very popular with our customers

We have also asked almost everyone who has tried our drinks what their thoughts are and our matcha latte is usually always a clear winner and loved by many. Feedback includes:

One of many great reviews we have had!

5. We have more than 260 5-star Google reviews

And furthermore, our Google reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Some examples of top testimonials about our matcha lattes include:

  • “The Matcha was a flavoursome and tasty combination of creaminess and authentic green tea” – Ansumana Bai-Marrow
  • “I am a big fan of matcha but geuinely hate most teas in a can because of the bad taste they often have. I was sceptical because most cafe chains in the UK make very poor quality matcha. I thought how can this one in a can be any better? I was shocked. It’s geuinely really nice. The fact it uses organic Japanese matcha as well as oat milk is a big plus for me. Not overly sweetened as well. A really lovely flavour!” – Ray Roberts
  • “Let’s start by saying I’m a huge fan of Matcha so have very high expectations. HumaniTea did not disappoint! Great taste and cute packaging, super clean ingredients, overall great product, can’t wait to see this on the shelf!” – Giulia F
  • “The best ready-to-drink matcha drink I’ve ever had. The taste was smooth, velvety and delicious. HumaniTea is the perfect pick-me-up drink to get over the mid-day slump” – Kian Bakhtiari
  • “This company converted me to a Matcha drinker! So natural and wonderfully tasty!!! More supermarkets need to stock this” – Justine
  • “Really loved the matcha latte it’s full of flavour but not too sweet at all which is amazing!” – Jessamyn
  • “The matcha latte is refreshing, delicious and gave a nice little boost to get me throught the afternoon. Great company and amazing products” – Tom Sutton
